Before he/she cheats
“Is it worse if someone cheats after a year or more of dating someone once, or if they date for a week to a month and cheat more than once/with a few people? Or, are they just as bad because cheating is cheating?”
It depends on what you mean by “date for a week to a month.” If you’ve only known the person for a week, chances are you haven’t discussed being exclusive yet. If you haven’t had “the discussion,” and you are dating more than one person, then it isn’t cheating at all. (You could be considered a player, but that’s very subjective.) However, if you’ve talked it over with the person you’re dating and decided you are only seeing each other, you’re exclusive, boyfriend/girlfriend…however you want to put it….cheating is cheating is cheating is cheating no matter how long you’ve been going out or how many times you’ve cheated.
What is cheating? Anything from a kiss on the lips to a romp in the hay is still cheating. “But it was just one kiss!” Bull shit. Period. When it comes to flirting, the lines are a little blurrier…but this is why you should have a talk with your significant other to determine what you are both comfortable with. Some couples flirt with other people all the time and are perfectly ok with it…that’s a matter of personal preference. The biggest problems I’ve noticed between couples all come down to the fact that there isn’t enough open communication. GET TO KNOW EACH OTHER! The person you end up with should also be your best friend.
